Picture Spring Tulips surround The Austrian Cannon monument at Washington Square Park, looking north. The plaque on the base of the monument reads that the cannon was 'captured by the undefeated third Italian Army in the Battle of Vittorio Veneto, October 24 - November 3, 1918 . . the first decisive victory of the Allies'. The cannon was a gift 'to the patriotic city of Rochester' in June 1921, from the Italian government. cannon located in Washington Square Park, downtown Rochester NY. Midtown plaza, and Xerox are to the right.
