9:00 AM America Gone Mad 7 Minutes of Censorship.
Since before I can even remember, I have been part of the ritual that is laps around the
Cobbs Hill Reservoir. FIVE generations or more of my family have trod that 3/4 mile path,
in search of peace of mind, relaxation, romance, bonding, and plain old exercise. I am
sure I am not alone, I am certain that MILLIONS of others have also enjoyed that 3/4 mile
path for many years. I have often photographed the area, but since 9-11, there have been
times when the security guards that patrol the area have told me I am not allowed to take
photographs. First it was in February of 2003 they said I could not take photos of the
reservoir. Well below are links to all of those photos that I published any ways. But, I
no longer took photos of the reservoir, Im not sure if it is against the law to say
RESERVOIR! That's right people, BIN LADEN WINS, Sadly Insane Hussein WINS! Over and
over I am being confronted for taking photographs, of stuff that has been photographed
over and over. So TODAY, November 15th 2003, while at Cobbs Hill Park, at an area that was specifically cleared of tress and brush so as to offer an unobstructed VIEW, a PICTURE PERFECT VIEW, I was for the THIRD time confronted by a security guard about taking photos, but this time not of the reservoir, not of the Gatehouse, which MAYBE, somehow I could understand, no, this time, the security guard told me, that I was not allowed to photograph the skyline...... He might as well have punched me in the gut, it certainly does make me sick... I gave him my business card, I protested my first amendment rights, I protested plain LOGIC, and then, just so I was sure I heard him right, I asked, "you are telling me that I cannot take a photograph of the skyline, its BANNED?" and he said thats right, and I said "I have to leave? I can't take pictures?" and he said thats right. I asked him for his name, he refused, I told him thats OK, I know that the security guards are from Adams Security, when I tried to get a photograph of the security guard he hid his face from my camera. Real nice, the guy BARELY spoke English, and he is telling me where I can point my camera in America? Why is he hiding his face and his name? So he gets in his truck, and he gets on the cell phone and is driving in reverse, (breaking the law!) I have no idea who he called, at first I was going to wait and see, but then I said screw it, I'm publishing this, I don't have time to wait. So I get back in my van, and I leave, and the security gurad follows me, so now I'm in a low speed chase, over pictures of KODAK town, Rochester NY! Whats wrong with this PICTURE???? Well I see the security guard yacking on his phone following me down Monroe Avenue I put a vehicle between me and him, and at Culver and Monroe, he broke off the chase and turned up Culver Road. I think the security guards are more worried that I will see them SLEEPING on the job in the truck, smoking in the truck, reading the paper in the truck, or out of the truck, swinging a golf club, or hanging out on a blanket with their significant other, oh yeah, they always get moving every time I show up.... Go ahead SEE for yourself, it does go on. If they are SECURITY why don't they get out of the truck and take a few laps around the reservoir if thats what they are so damned worried about? There was a big uproar the other day about Rochester not getting any money from the Fed for enhanced security needed since 9-11. A story in the Democrat and Chronicle, City fails to get homeland aid and WHAM 1180 AM talk host Joe Pags, made a big deal about the paper making a big deal out of it. Why? Because we would be kidding ourselves to think that Rochester had any value as a target. Really? Well then why not FIRE them security guards that are on top of Cobbs Hill walking on my rights? So thats it, America has gone mad, you may look at the skyline, but don't take a picture, no video, oh, and I doubt you should paint a picture, if you can't take a picture, in fact, I suspect that if you go up there with a typewriter, you might get bothered for what you write.....
